El usuario de una traducción necesitan poder confiar en la traducción. Necesita poder utilizar la traducción como un punto de partida confiable para sus actos, de manera que al tomar decisiones en la creencia de que la traducción le brinda la información que necesita sobre el texto original, las decisiones no van a fallar por la traducción en sí misma. El usuario necesita confiar en que el traductor se desempeñará de forma confiable, que entregará una traducción en el tiempo necesario, procurando cualquier ayuda que se necesite para cumplir con los plazos, y siendo flexible y versátil para cumplir con las necesidades del usuario.

Translation users need to be able to rely on translation. They need to be able to use the translation as a reliable basis for action, in the sense that if they take action on the belief that the translation gives them the kind of information they need about the original text, that action will not fail because of the translation. And they need to be able to trust the translator to act in reliable ways, delivering reliable translations by deadlines, getting whatever help is needed to meet those deadlines, and being flexible and versatile in serving the user’s needs.
